Choosing the right carpet for the room
What the room gets used for should drive the carpet choice more than the color chip. Bedrooms and living rooms can handle a softer, plush fiber; stairs and hallways need a tight low-pile that won't crush under daily footsteps; basements and homes with pets do best on solution-dyed polyester, which shrugs off humidity and the occasional spill without holding a stain.
